LEER Topper Replacement Parts | Official ARE Parts Store
Our LEER topper lock cylinders restore secure access to your truck cap with factory-matched keying and finish. Each cylinder is machined to the same specifications as the original equipment, ensuring smooth operation and weather resistance.
Designed for side doors and rear hatches on LEER 100R, 100XR, 100XQ, 122, and 180 models, these cylinders ship with two keys and all mounting hardware. We manufacture these locks to withstand the same freeze-thaw cycles and road vibration your topper sees every season.
Why Choose Genuine LEER Parts

Materials & Construction Standards for LEER Parts
Every component in our LEER topper parts inventory is manufactured to the same material specifications ARE uses in current production. Lock cylinders and T-handle assemblies use corrosion-resistant zinc alloys with UV-stable powder-coat finishes that won’t fade or chalk under constant sun exposure. Window glass is always tempered safety glass meeting ANSI Z26.1 impact standards, not annealed glass that can shatter into sharp fragments.
Weatherstripping and bulb seals use EPDM rubber compounds rated for -40°F to 180°F temperature swings, so the material won’t harden in winter or go soft in summer heat. Gas strut cylinders are nitrogen-charged and sealed against moisture intrusion — a critical detail, since contaminated gas loses pressure and causes the door to drop unexpectedly. We test every strut to 10,000 open-close cycles before it leaves our facility.

Compatibility Across LEER Model Generations
LEER has manufactured truck caps under multiple model designations over the past three decades, and parts compatibility depends on both the model number and the production year. The 100R, 100XR, and 100XQ share the same door frame dimensions and lock cylinder bore, so weatherstripping and lock sets interchange across these three lines. The 122 and Tonneau models use a slightly taller door profile, requiring longer bulb seal lengths.
Gas struts vary by door weight and hinge geometry. The 100XL and 100XQ use identical strut mounting points and stroke lengths, but the 180 and Raider models require struts with higher charge pressure to lift the heavier fiberglass construction. If you’re unsure which strut fits your cap, the model label on the inside front panel lists both the model designation and production date — we cross-reference that data to the correct strut part number.
Installation Requirements & Tool Recommendations
Lock Cylinder Replacement
Lock cylinder installation requires a flathead screwdriver to remove the retaining clip inside the door panel and a small pick or needle-nose pliers to extract the old cylinder. The new cylinder drops into the same bore and locks in place with the included cam and clip. Total installation time is under five minutes per lock. If you’re replacing multiple locks and want them keyed alike, provide your existing LEER key code when ordering — we’ll cut all cylinders to match.
Weatherstripping Installation
Bulb seal weatherstripping installs in the aluminum channel around the door perimeter. Clean the channel with isopropyl alcohol to remove old adhesive residue, then press the new seal into place starting at the top corner and working around the frame. The self-adhesive backing bonds immediately, but we recommend letting it cure for 24 hours before closing the door under full compression. Trim any excess length with a sharp utility knife.

Questions About LEER Topper Parts & Compatibility
Check the model label on the inside front panel of your LEER cap — it lists the model number and production date. Match that model number to the compatibility notes in each product description above. If you're unsure, contact us with your model number and we'll verify the correct part numbers for your cap.
For older caps without visible model labels, measure the door frame dimensions and send us photos of the existing hardware. We can usually identify the correct parts from frame geometry and lock cylinder style.
Yes. When you order lock cylinders or T-handle latches, provide your existing LEER key code during checkout and we'll cut all locks to match. The key code is stamped on the original key tag that came with your cap, or you can contact a LEER dealer with your VIN to retrieve the code.
If you don't have the key code, we can ship the locks with a new key set and you'll need to replace all cylinders to maintain keyed-alike access across the cap.
EPDM weatherstripping typically lasts five to seven years under normal conditions before UV exposure and compression cycles cause the rubber to lose its seal. Gas struts are rated for 10,000 open-close cycles, which translates to roughly five to eight years depending on how often you access the cap.
Both parts can last longer with routine maintenance. Treat weatherstripping with silicone protectant annually, and keep gas strut piston rods clean to prevent seal damage.
Yes. Lock cylinders include mounting cams and retaining clips. Weatherstripping has self-adhesive backing pre-applied. Gas struts ship with ball-socket end fittings and stainless mounting bolts. T-handle latches include striker plates and screws. Window glass panels come with rubber edge trim and mounting clips.
The only parts requiring separate hardware are headliner panels and some custom-length weatherstripping runs, which we note in the product description.
These are genuine LEER topper parts manufactured to the same specifications ARE uses in current production. We don't stock aftermarket equivalents for critical components like lock cylinders, gas struts, or tempered glass — the material quality and fit tolerances on aftermarket parts vary too widely to guarantee proper function.
For non-structural items like weatherstripping, we use the same EPDM rubber supplier that provides material for factory caps.
Most LEER topper parts are designed for DIY installation with basic hand tools. Lock cylinders, weatherstripping, and T-handle latches require only a screwdriver and take under 30 minutes. Gas struts need a 10mm socket and a helper to support the door during installation.
Window glass replacement is more involved due to the need for proper sealant application and frame alignment. If you're not comfortable working with glass, we recommend having a local glass shop or LEER dealer handle the installation.
All LEER topper parts carry a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects. Gas struts are covered for pressure loss or seal failure. Lock cylinders are warranted for tumbler binding or finish degradation. Weatherstripping is covered for adhesive failure or premature cracking.
The warranty does not cover damage from improper installation, accidents, or normal wear beyond the rated lifespan. If a part fails within the warranty period, contact us with your order number and photos of the issue for a replacement.
