A.R.E. Fusion Tonneau Cover | Official Product Page
The Fusion tonneau cover delivers sleek, low-profile protection for your truck bed with the convenience of single-hand operation. We designed the Fusion for drivers who want a clean, finished look without sacrificing quick access to cargo.
Every Fusion cover features our proprietary dual-latch system that releases with one hand from either side of the bed, so you can lift the cover even when your hands are full. The aircraft-grade aluminum frame and reinforced vinyl skin provide weather resistance in all seasons while keeping the weight manageable for daily use.
Whether you're securing tools on a job site or protecting weekend gear, the Fusion's tri-fold design lets you open one, two, or all three panels to match your load. The cover installs without drilling using our universal clamp rail system and fits most truck beds in under 30 minutes.
What makes the Fusion different

Frame Construction & Weather Sealing
We build every Fusion frame from extruded aluminum alloy that balances structural strength with light weight. The frame tubes are powder-coated in matte black to resist corrosion and UV degradation, even in high-salt coastal environments.
The vinyl skin uses a 24-ounce marine-grade material bonded to the aluminum with industrial-strength adhesive. Dual EPDM rubber seals run along all four edges of each panel, creating overlapping weather barriers at the fold lines. This seal design keeps rain, snow, and road spray out of the bed while allowing moisture that does enter to drain through the bed’s factory drain holes.

Installation & Bed Compatibility
The Fusion installs using our universal side-rail clamp system that requires no drilling or modification to your truck bed. Each clamp adjusts to fit bed rails from 1.5 to 3 inches wide, covering most full-size pickups from 2005 to present and popular mid-size models.
Clamp Placement & Alignment
You’ll position four clamps per side along the length of each bed rail, using the included alignment template to ensure the cover sits square and centered. The clamps tighten with a 13mm socket wrench, applying even pressure without crushing the rail material. Once tightened, the cover remains secure even during highway driving or off-road use.
Panel Operation & Cargo Access
The tri-fold design divides the Fusion into three equal panels that fold toward the cab, giving you complete control over how much bed access you need at any moment. Open just the rear panel for quick access to smaller items near the tailgate. Fold two panels forward to load longer cargo like lumber or kayaks. Release all three panels and stack them against the cab window for a fully open bed.
Each panel locks independently using rotary latches positioned on the underside of the cover at the bed rail. The front panel includes a keyed cylinder that integrates with your truck’s tailgate lock, so one key controls both the cover and tailgate. When you’re ready to open the cover, simply unlock the front latch from either side of the bed, lift, and the panels fold smoothly on their spring-assisted hinges.

Common Questions About the Fusion Tonneau
Yes, the Fusion's clamp system accommodates spray-in bedliners up to 0.5 inches thick on the bed rails. The adjustable clamps grip the rail width and compensate for the added thickness without requiring spacers or modifications.
If your bedliner has raised edges taller than 0.5 inches, contact our fit team with your truck's year, make, model, and bedliner brand so we can confirm compatibility or recommend adapter kits.
No, the rear panel requires the tailgate to be lowered or removed for access. The cover's latches are designed to work in conjunction with the tailgate, so you unlock the front panel, lower the tailgate, then lift the rear panel from either side.
This design maintains security when the tailgate is closed and locked, preventing someone from reaching under the cover to access cargo.
The rear panel supports up to 50 pounds of evenly distributed weight when fully closed and latched. This handles typical snow loads or light gear storage.
For heavier items or concentrated weight, fold the panels forward and secure cargo directly to the truck bed. The vinyl skin and aluminum frame are not designed to function as a rigid roof, so avoid standing or kneeling on the cover.
Most drivers see a 0.5 to 1.5 mpg improvement in highway fuel economy with the Fusion installed, depending on driving speed and truck aerodynamics. The low-profile design reduces air turbulence in the bed, which lowers drag compared to driving with an open bed.
Actual savings vary by truck model, bed length, and driving conditions. The fuel savings are a secondary benefit; the primary value is cargo protection and security.
The Fusion is not designed to accept aftermarket rack systems mounted on top of the cover. The vinyl material and fold points cannot support the load stress from roof-mounted cargo.
If you need overhead cargo capacity, consider our A.R.E. CX Series cap with a factory rack system, or use a bed-mounted rack that installs independently in the truck's stake pockets.
Every Fusion package includes the tri-fold cover assembly, eight side-rail clamps with mounting hardware, an alignment template, installation instructions, and two keys for the locking cylinder.
The cover ships fully assembled except for the clamps, which you position and tighten during installation. No additional parts or tools beyond a 13mm socket wrench are required for standard installations.
Measure your truck bed from the inside of the bulkhead (behind the cab) to the inside of the tailgate in the closed position. Round to the nearest standard bed size: 5.5 feet (66 inches), 6.5 feet (78 inches), or 8 feet (96 inches).
If your measurement falls between sizes, order the next size up and contact our support team for fit confirmation. Most manufacturers produce beds in these three standard lengths, but some specialty or older models may vary.
